What is a "God Wink"? To me,simply put, it is an unexpected blessing from God! It can come at any time or place. Some people think of these occurrences as purely coincidental. It is no coincidence when God provides an immediate need! God's hand is always in your life if we only open ourselves up to realize it.
Allow me to tell you of my recent God Wink. There have been so many over my 65 years! Over the weekend I attended my soon to be niece's bridal shower. I knew I would not know many people attending except for the bride to be and the sisters and mom of my nephew. I entered the beautifully decorated room in a local hotel and did a visual search for my relatives. Not seeing my relatives , I chose a table that was set for 10 and sat down awaiting for my relatives to get there. The bride's mom was very gracious and introduced herself and offered me something to drink. About 10 minutes later my relatives arrived and I waved enthusiastically at them to which I got no response. Hmm I thought, they probably didn't see me. As they got closer to the table, I called out "Hello" as they breezed by me and went to sit at another table! What on earth just happened? I know they saw me! Obviously they were not going to talk to me much less sit with me. Feeling confused and like I just got slapped in the face, I quickly asked God to protect me from anger, retaliation and to give me peace and dignity to handle this puzzling situation. From past experiences, this behavior is not uncommon for them, although this was the first time the behavior was directed at me!.This was most humbling , Within literally seconds, I heard a voice coming from my right side. I turned and there was a pleasant looking lady with a smile asking me if she could join me. Of course! She sat down and we began our introductions. Karen, was my new friends name and the similarities of our lives were startling! We are both Christians, we both gave birth to a son and daughter and what was amazing is that her daughter and my son both live in the same small town in Maryland ! What are the chances of that? There were many other similarities in our lives but I won't bore you with all of them. As we chatted, the table filled in with coworkers of the bride to be who were younger than the two of us so that added a delightful blend of conversations. We ate a delicious meal after we prayed over it, played the silly games that has become part of these parties and we clapped as we saw all the great gifts that were bestowed upon the soon to be bride. We had a blast! When it was time to go, Karen and I hugged each other, exchanged phone numbers, and she took the name of my son's restaurant that he works in as a head chef , so that her daughter can make a visit there. We both acknowledged that our meeting was a blessing from God.
So what happened to the sting of having been disrespected by my relatives earlier, the disappointment in their actions, the feeling of being so alone, and the anger I started to feel? Well, "God Winked" and it all disappeared! Thank you Lord!
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
As for this situation, my husband and I are praying for a solution.
